I’ve been counting calories & working out for the past . . .ummmm . . . 4-5 months (geeze it seems longer) I started at 215 lbs. Well, my last known weight was 215, I actually didn’t weigh myself when I started to diet.. I’m pretty sure it was more than that when I started though.

I’ve lost about 15 lbs (I fluctuate anywhere between 202 & 197 on any given day) It’s great. My blouses that were too tight fit now (my boobies don’t try to pop open the buttons anymore) my jeans fit (I don’t work a sweat when putting on) and I fit into my ‘skinny’ bra now.

I’m eating approx 1,500 calories a day (which sometime is super hard to do and other days I’ll have 600+ calories left over) and I’m working on the elliptical & doing Pilates 2 times a week. Over the summer I was walking to dog a lot more also. But now the rain has started and I’m not walking her nearly as much anymore (she lost about 8 lbs also! Yay puppy!)

So, my goal is to get down to 175 by the end of April, for my 40th birthday. I want to go on vacation & not feel ‘fat’ in a baiting suit.

I don’t know how I’m going to do it because I fell like I’ve been at this 200 mark for a few weeks now. I’m loosing steam & the weekends are sooooo hard for me. I just want to ‘nibble’ on everything.

I’m going to try to post here my weight statuses . . . .maybe that will keep me in line & motivated.

This past weekend I got sucked into watching way too many hours of ‘Raising Sixtuplets’. I love reality TV. I love even more a whole marathon day or weekend. God forbid watching shows individually, give ‘em to me all at once! After I was finished I thought to myself that I just wasted X amount of hours on my life on another stupid show. Humph!

It’s the same old story, couple can’t get knocked up, they go in for fertility treatments, she ends up pregnant with 6 babies, almost dies while giving birth, they can’t make ends meet, they move 3,000 miles away from family (aka the help), she berates him, they go to marriage counseling (I finally just fast forwarded through that part each episode), he doesn’t do enough around the house, she works 12 hours a day (she’s a nurse or something) he threatens to beat up her dad, she files for divorce. Good God. I could have told you that was going to happen after watching 2 episodes.

I can tell you that I can’t wait for the day that I can watch the Kate Gosslin “I’m Marrying My Bodyguard’ episode.

If I had a dollar for every person that asked me today "is this the train that takes me/us to Seatac?" I'd have 3 dollars.

If I hear one more thing about Oksana & Mel, I may just have to shoot myself. I am the first to admit that I love reading the 'gossip' blogsbut is this all that is out there? I mean come on! He's an ass, She's money hungry  . . . . give it a break! There has got to be some better 'gossip' out there. I can already tell, this is giong to be a very boring day today . . . humph

God I do love my iPhone.

I want to go downstairs to Sbux & get an iced caramel macchiato. But . . . I’m trying to be good. I’m back on my daily calorie counter. I need someone to talk me off the ledge right now.

I used to go on-line and track all of my calories; which was a pain since I wasn’t by one all the time. So, in the end I quit counting. Now that I carry my phone everywhere there is no reason for me not to count my calories since there are apps to do it for you. I just need to find a good one (I don’t know if I like the one I have right now).

I did find an app that will track your period though. So much better than writing it down in the calendar.

Why does that candy dish next to me keep calling my name? Ugh! I really need a sweet snack right now. I must remember to go to the store & buy some fruit later.

(and yes, I am going to the gym after work)

All I have to say is . . .  28 days until vacation. I C A N ' T W A I T ! !

Sometimes people really piss me off & I need to learn to not take everything so personally.

At my job, one of my ‘duties’ is to plan anywhere from 1-3 parties/dinners a year. I find the location, I plan the menus, flowers, drinks, blah blah blah . . . And everyone always LOVES the parties. (But of course they do since they don’t have to pay for anything).

My whole family is extremely creative, I am the least out of the four of us & I’m still fairly creative. My parents went to and met in art school in Detroit, I think my brother has an incredibly creative mind. Some of the things he ‘thinks’ of is amazing . . . well, that was 15-20 years ago when he was either high or dunk so he was even more enlightened; now he may just have to get to it in a different way.

Anyways, the party’s/dinners are always a blast, they turn out great. So, when someone is trying to plan something they always ask me for help. For instance, one of the gals I work with is getting married in a few weeks. Her boss asked me to come up with some ideas for a dinner, preferably on the water. I found a fun lunch cruise. There were 2 options one was to see the ‘fleet’ come in for Seafair and the other was to just cruise around the Ballard Locks. They were both about $90+/- for the whole shit & shebang. Yes, could be a bit pricey but the Boss was totally excited for it. She wanted to do it. It would have been just lunch (no gifts), take ½ of work & have some fun (everyone but me is salary so they wouldn’t have to take any time off except me since I’m hourly). The e-mail that we received this morning was:

“Ok…got some feedback that maybe the cruise was a little far reaching pocket book wise, although it sounds like a lot of fun.”

OK. OK. I know, but come on. You are going to pay at least $50 a person for a dinner with drinks and then a gift on top of it that will be what . . . . $30-$40? Come on people!!

So then . . . .I responded back with another really nice cheaper place to go to that is just down the street.

She said . . .

‘All options sound good. I've got K checking out a place in West Seattle that has awesome Italian food and is on the water but not in Alki.”

Great. The bride is not supposed to have gluten. And that means I (and others) have to drive in, pay for parking & then go over to West Seattle. Mind you I don’t really like to drive now that I am a public transportation gal. (And I won’t take the bus home from West Seattle as I’ll have to transfer & I don’t do transfers haha)

I don’t know why I get so bent out of shape. I fell like everyone is always asking me for ideas but never uses them. It is not my fault that I enjoy the finer things in life. I’m sorry that I can be a bit of a snob when it comes to restaurants but who wants to eat crappy food? I really want to tell them to F-Off and not go to West Seattle for dinner but that would be wrong. Or would it?

I've been thinking of you lately blogger. I've been so busy with work & life in general I just haven't had time to talk to you.

My office recently moved. I'm quite happy about it. I have 2 cubes now. One with a view of Puget Sound & the other is the reception area. Yeah, everyone (that I don't work with) 'think' I'm the receptionist now. It kind of bothers me knowing that there are other people in the office there that think I'm a receptionist. I find myself (when appropriate) telling people that I'm the EVP's Assistant (for those of you that don't know me that really is my title).  But, back to the reception desk. It's really all my fault. I was the one that said "I hate going to a different floor only to find the reception gate down & I don't know where I'm going. We need someone sitting up front." "Great idea my boss says" So, now I'm up front. Which is fine, I have more contact with everyone & they come to see me now, not the other way around. Which I like a lot. Hopefully it'll lead to me being the 'Mother Hen' aka Office Manager. I need to create more work for myself & prove to the boss we need an Office Manager. She loved the idea when we originally talked about it, so now I'll just have to do it.

I just finished reading "Eat, Love, Pray". I really enjoyed it. If I was a writer I'd want to write a book like she did. I kept thinking to myself that i need to write more. Not that I even write, this is the most I've written in years. I like writing; putting my thoughts on paper. I wish I could type faster though, my brain talks faster than I type.  I had a journal back in the day when I was single. I remember going thru it & then throwing it out when I moved in with C. I wish I had kept it . . . but on the other hand, maybe it's fate I tossed it out. I'm sure there are things in there that I don't want or need to remember. :)

The weather has been shitty for ever here. I really can't stand it anymore. I didn't plant a garden this year; I may plant a fall garden once it gets a bit further into the season. C is working a lot of hours, just opened store # 3. I just keep thinking in my head that one day they'll franchise, we'll be rich & I won't have to work anymore. (Keep on thinking you say?) Positive thoughts - Positive thoughts. Then when we are rich & I don't have to work maybe I'll take a re-learn to write class. hmmmm - that could be fun.

It was lovely talking to you tonight. I promise that I'll try to keep in touch more often & practice writing more.  But I really need to go fold the towels, walk the dog & get ready for my guilty pleasure . . . Reality TV at it's finest, The Bachelorette.

xoxo

What's been goin on with me you ask?

1. It’s been raining like crazy for like the last 20 months.
2. I had 2 coffees this am & 2 Krispy Kremes (what was I thinking??)
3. I’m eating some Tom Yum with tofu soup right now. It’s delish! (Even though I like the bus stop Pho instead; I had that yesterday for lunch. And yes the restaurant is inside the greyhound bus station over here. It's the BEST in the city)
4. Even though I took a pill last night I didn’t sleep well last night (Chris’s cell went off at like 2am huh?)
5. I feel out of sorts today . . . .
6. I really haven’t gardened yet this summer (due to the Vertigo & all of the frickin rain)
7. Someone (a slug I’m assuming) ate the cucumber I planted. What a bitch
8. The office is moving next week (at least we are moving to a better building & one of my desks has a view of the sound – Hell Yeah!)
9. I have to move & pack myself, and 2 of my 3 bosses next week. And I’m sure I’ll get stuck with packing the obnoxious closet where everyone dumps their crap.
10. I have a 7:30am appt for a MRI on Monday. That should be interesting since I’m claustrophobic.
11. I think I’m going to make grilled fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil sandwiches fro dinner tonight.
12. I need a real vacation.

~peace out~

I love reality TV.

Some of my favorites:
Big Brother
Survivor
Bachelor/Bachelorette
Solitary
American Idol
Anything Wedding Related
Top Chef/Masters
Amazing Race
Whale Wars

Some of my favorites that are no longer on the air:
Anna Nicole Show
For Love or Money
The Swan

I don’t know why in the world someone would want to be on a reality show other than to promote themselves. I guess there are a handful of legitimate shows, Survivor, Amazing Race, but like the Bachelorette? Really? I was watching the season premiere last night. Chris got home from work, asked me what I was doing. I told him I was watching porn. I can’t even imagine what went thru his head when I said that (I imagine not much) as he came in the bedroom to see what I was actually doing he just rolled his eyes are me knowing exactly what I meant.

This poor girl Ali, she is soooo stinking cute. Personally, I think she’s the cutest one to date (please do not misunderstand cute for beautiful – the morons on the show last night were going on & on about how beautiful she is. She’s cute, not beautiful). But there has to be something wrong with her if she needs to go on a TV show to find the love of her life. Has she not seen what the success rate for this show is? It is not good. There are shows about the show, “Where Are They Now?” Well, the majority of them are NOT together.

Her Bio says she’s 25. And she has (well, I guess now had since she quit to be on the show ) a great job as an Advertising Account Manager. She said it was her ‘dream’ job. When I was 25 I had lot’s of dates, granted none of them were marriage material, and I had a pretty good job. I just don’t understand why a TV show? Why not match.com, at least they scientifically try to pair you up with someone that is compatible with you. And I’m sure match.com’s success rate is a lot better than the TV show’s is. (I’m all for match.com since I had a friend that found her husband thru them)

Last night the boys had to ‘vote’ someone off; that person was Justin. Ali ended up going against what all the boys said and she kept him on the show. I found this very exciting (for me) website and it appears that Justin had not only one, but two girlfriends during the show. The previews show Ali sobbing, blabbering all over the place over this Jerk-Off. Whatever. (But these are the best parts of the porn.) That is what you get for going on reality TV & not knowing a thing about these morons. Granted, when I was young and in the dating world I dated a handful of knuckle heads that I didn’t know who they were or weren’t but I wasn’t dating 20 knuckleheads at the same time eventhough I'm sure I wish I was. (not that makes a difference). And I guess one of the other turd-mongers tried to slit his wrists on the show? OK. That is where I draw the line. These producers need to do some serious background checks on these people.

I honestly believe that the first few Bachelor shows (and the first Bachelorette with Trista?) were legitimate. But now people want their fame. They want to be famous, they want the paparazzi to take their pictures, they want to be on tmz.com. . . . they want to be in porn. Which is all right with me . . . because I want to watch it! I can't ever get enough porn - don't tell that to Chris haha

Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad!!!

Friday, May 21, 2010

Today during lunch I was blog-peeping (like window peeping). I peep until my desire of nosing around in someone’s else’s life is full.

Yesterday I read about a Muslim girl that was having an affair with a married man. I really wanted to add her blog to may favorites but I felt like I was listening in on a conversation I wasn’t meant to hear. It was the same old story; she was heart broken, he was using her. She sounded like a beautiful girl, I wanted to give her a hug and let her know she’ll get over him.

Today I saw someone’s wedding pictures. My parents got married in St. Florians church. I loved looking at their pictures growing up. I always imagined I get married in their church by Fr. Esper (he was the Fr. at St. Hugo’s). I didn’t get married in a church. I got married in Vegas; it was just easier to do that since we were in Seattle & our families were scattered all around the country.

This is my Vegas wedding picture:

This is where I should have had my wedding:

My décolleté is still itchy after all of the sun I got this past weekend. I think I’m going to itch a hole right to my heart if I don’t get some good lube on it. You’d think I’d have some Crème de la Mer in my stash but I don’t. You don’t know how sad that makes me.

But, so much for the sun, rumor has it that there is going to be a big storm coming thru tonight. I read this guys blog for the weather. http://cliffmass.blogspot.com/ Even though I really don’t understand anything he says I think if I were a meteorologist I’d really enjoy it. What sucks is that the dog does not like storms. She’ll try to sleep on my head. Not fun since she is 110 lbs. And C is going to Portland tonight to meet with the investors again. Sooo, that means I have to deal with Crazy Dog tonight.

Great. Itchy boobies & a fea bag on my head tonight. I may have to crack out the doggie tranquilizers & a sleeping pill for momma, all in the name of Mother Nature.

I received a weird voice mail yesterday.

Some man (sounded a bit older) called & left me a voice mail yesterday (at home). He asked for me by name and then he asked if I was related to Don, Bill, and Joe (not really those names). That, he and his wife live in Oaklahoma and they were going to be vacationing up here this summer & wanted to know if I was related to them. The weird thing is the name that came up on the voice mail was not spelled like my last name.

Hmmm – I’m not quite sure what to think of this

Ugh – I have a Dr. Appointment to see a neurologist the beginning of June.

My regular Dr. (Dr. R) said that the tests look fine. Hummm – because the Dr. that ran the tests said I have Migraine Vertigo. Why can’t she see that? So, in the meantime Dr. R put me on a transdermal scopolamine patch. It’s a little sticker/disc & you put it behind you ear (a new patch every 3 days). Last night was the last of my first 3 days on this. I figured it wasn’t working (because I still had minor dizzy spells) so I didn’t put a new one on, I just took one of the ‘anti dizzy’ (Meclizine) pills she gave in the beginning of the month so I can actually sleep & not get all dizzy when rolling over. Boy was I wrong. I was a hot dizzy mess last night. What is interesting, I can feel it coming on so I now know how to position myself or how to look at something to help stop it. The spells aren’t that bad, just mostly annoying.

I’m sure the nurologist is going to tell me he can’t see anything wrong, because that is just how my cards fall.

I wonder if it has to do anything with my weird depth-perception. Every now & then (like 6 times a year) I can look at something and then it will look like it’s 5 feet further away from where it actually is. As soon as I re-adjust on something else it goes away. It’s the oddest thing. About a month ago I was talking to someone here at work and it happened. I asked her if my eyes looked weird, (I told her what was happening) she said I looked fine. Now I’m just probably opening up another can of worms. Lovely.

I really need to figure out what I’m going to have for dinner tonight.

Because I knew you were wondering . . . . What is Amy thinking right now?
  1. It's a BEAUTIFUL day today. I wonder if I can sneak out of work early
  2. I really shouldn't be eating this bacon right now. It's delish on the tongue, but bad for the belly
  3. I wish I was a housewife & didn't have to work.
  4. I hope the fiber pills kick in soon. (Yes, I need to get more 'regular')
  5. I'm embarrassed that I forgot about my girlfriend's the Bridal shower this weekend; I really don't want to go
  6. I LOVE black seedless grapes
  7. I really hope the Dr calls me back today with a Migraine Vertigo treatment plan
~ Peace out! Yo ~

Public Transportation

I forget how much I truly enjoy riding the bus.

Yes, I was born in Detroit (yes actually in the city of Detroit) but I grew up in the suburbs. My father worked & retired from GM, my Grandpa worked for Ford, I have several friends & friends’ parents that worked in the auto industry. It’s just a part of life in MI, the auto industry that is. I will always and forever buy cars from GM or Ford even though I’d love to have a Subaru Outback. (That is a Seattle thing I think. I swear everyone out here has one)

I’ve owned 1 Chevette (that was my first car), 2 Saturns, 1 Geo and a Ford (this does not include the cars I’ve owned with the husband). My Dad used to come home with a new car every 3,000 miles. So I know cars. I mean I don’t know how to change the oil, even though 50% of my friends in MI do, I just get it. I get having your own transportation, vroom vroom, honk honk look at my nice new shiny car. . .

I don’t really remember seeing busses in MI. I know they have them; it’s that I just don’t remember knowing anyone that would take them. I honestly thought for a very long time it was a way for the housekeepers that lived in Detroit to get into the suburbs to work. (I know that is horrible). But it’s Detroit and why in the world would they promote public transportation when what they do is cars. (I don’t think I knew what a HOV lane was until I moved to Seattle because Detroit at the time did not ‘encourage’ carpooling).

The first bus I remember riding on was in Chicago. And they have the “L” there. That was an experience to say the least. I was probably about 20 & had no idea what to do. Who’d a thunk . . . 20 more years and I’d love it!!!

When we first moved to Seattle I was truly introduced to public transportation. We lived right in the city so I could (and did) walk to work. At first I was intimidated by the bus; but EVERYONE did it, take the bus that is. And I mean everyone. (Today I think I know more people that take public transportation bus, ferry, water taxi, sounder train than drive in Seattle) SO I was almost forced to take the bus. It was like peer pressure to take the bus (in a good way) After I figured it out, the bus pretty much picked me up at my front door & literally dropped me off right in front of my office.

A couple of weeks into my new job the then President of the company I worked for said to me:
“You are the new girl from the mid-west?”
“Yes sir”
“How do you like Seattle?”
“I love it”
“I hear you are in Queen Anne” (Queen Anne is the neighborhood in Seattle we first lived in)
“Yes sir”
“Feel free to ride your bike into work, there are showers for you to use in the main offices if you’d like”
“Thank You”

After living here & figuring it all out “the Seattle way of life” that is, I finally got use to taking the bus. So much that my 1st Staurn sat in the street for months. I got tickets on it, flat tires & had to get it jumped a handful of times. We finally decided to sell it. Then we bought a home & moved to the east-side, suburbia. We carpooled together in the mornings & I took the bus home in the evenings. (I got off of work earlier than him).

Now we have totally different schedules. I take the bus both ways. But, for the months of March & April & had a parking pass. It was lovely to have. I didn’t have to rely on the bus; I didn’t have to time my mornings/evenings to the bus schedule. Mind you my bus is a ‘commuter’ bus & it’s the same people riding it every day; not like the ‘city’ bus I used to take with all the ‘crazies’. (City bus stories - that is a whole different blog entry) But, I couldn’t take my afternoon nap and I didn’t read a stitch of anything. Now it’s May & I don’t have the parking pass. I’m back on the bus. I just finished reading Chelsea Handlers One Night Stand Book, now I’m reading The Help, and I haven’t had to fill my tank up with gas (or pay $300+ for a parking pass, just the $99 for my bus pass what a deal!!)!!!

I will never buy a foreign car, but whenever I get the chance I will do my share to be more sustainable and ride the bus, and catch up on my reading and napping. I really think taking the bus makes me a happier, healthier person.

I just got duped! Jacquie told me I had to go & deliver some reports to the boss (LB) in her big meeting. So I did. No biggie, we walk down to the conference room & everyone is looking at us. Weird I think – but whatever. I’m da boss & do what I gotta do; in this case, it’s deliver reports. So I give the stuff to LB. Now I’m wondering why DHT is in there because she’s supposed to be in a different meeting on a different floor. I see LB, she tells me to go over there (pointing) I do (mmmm are those cupcakes I see? Who orderd those I didn’t & I thought I was running this show. Huh) Then everyone (80+ people) sing happy birthday to me (well, there were 2 other people standing with me but it’s my b-day TODAY so it’s all about me) lol. I’m such an idiot sometimes. There were only supposed to be 20 people in that meeting. How did I not realize that everyone in the division was in there? Talk about a flake.

And now of course I was put on the spot & had a bit of a panic attack & thought everyone could see my heart beating a million times a minute. Geesh!

It’s been a good birthday (it sure better since this is the last one I’m having in my 30’s). Lot’s of cards, lots of coffee breaks, a juice break, and lots of gift cards (mommas going shopping next week for a couple of new summer outfits). Tonight I’m going to dinner with the husband, tomorrow I have a Dr. appt for the stupid vertigo (hopefully they’ll tell me I just have an inner ear infection & it’ll be cured soon) & Sat we are going to Rovers with J&D for dinner. I am very excited for that meal!

Happy birthday to me!!!!

Holding babies is the best medicine. I believe holding a little baby can cure just about anything; for at least a few minutes.

Katy; it was so good to see you, Chris & baby Aaron!!

Update as of 2:00pm PST:

I just had my annual review. It went better than I expected. I really didn't expect it to be bad, the boss was just way more complimentary that I expected. I guess she's in a good mood today. :) Hell, good for me. And while I was talking to her about it, I told her that when we move to the new building I wanted to be the boss of the assistants (since everyone will be centralized). I really didn’t think she’d even entertain the idea. She knows I want more responsibility, she knows I want to stay with her, she knows I’m at the top of my pay for my level, she knows I’ll stay with her because I really wouldn’t be 100% happy in another (next step would be financial) position. So she said she loved the idea & she’d talk to HR about it. So send me happy/good thoughts that this pans out, because 1, I really want it & 2, I’d be great at it.

It's all because I was in a good mood because I held a baby today & holding baby's are good for the soul/karma

Why do I get so hell bent on the silliest stuff?

(Each bullet point is directed to someone I know)

-Pick up your feet when you walk. You are like 50 years old! Quit schlepping!!
-Don't ask me for advice/help on something and then ask someone else 2 doors down the same thing.
-Don't yap to me about the stupid Eagles nest. (Even though I love looking at the babies) can't you see I'm stupid busy & don't have the time to bullshit (but I do have time to blog)
-Don't ask me where I want to go to lunch. I told you a week ago I'd go. You should be happy that I'm not canceling AGAIN.
-I told you that you had my Quilting book. Don't come to me with your tail between your legs with the quilting book AND two others that I lent to you. You are officially off my book lending list.
-Just because I'm nice & smile at you in the hallway dose not mean I want to be your friend.
-Please just take the money when we pay for our lunch. We all think you are a bit crazy when you go off on one of your tangents about whatever. You are a nice lady but a bit koo-koo. The lunch line would go so much faster if you kept your trap shut.
-Just because I have a LV & a Chanel handbag it does not mean that I'm snobby. I just like spending my money on things different than you.

Thank you for letting me vent - That feels better.

Now I know how it feels to be a parent and get ‘the’ phone call in the middle of the night.

Ring Ring

Me – Hello (I’m saying this pretty pissed off as it’s 11:40 on Friday night & I really wanted to sleep)
C – I just got in a car accident.

Talk about waking up real quick.

Chris ordered a new car about 6 weeks ago. His lease was up & he decided to order the same exact car (Tahoe). I think it’s weird that he ordered the exact same car but if that is what he likes . . . . He turns in the old car on Friday morning. He gets a loner, an Impala, you know the kind, it’s like a Police car. He’s supposed to pick up the new Tahoe on Monday.

It’s Friday night, he’s on his way home from work. It was a beautiful night (I mowed the grass but probably shouldn’t have since I’m still a bit dizzy) They were totally swamped at the Bellevue store so Chris, the good boss he is, went in to help them out.

It’s now 11:30pm Chris is about 1 mile from the house. A gal was coming up the hill, ran a red light & he kind of T-boned her. Thank god he drives like an old man. Everyone is fine. She’s 20, was coming home from work, (She works at Chipotle in which Chris tried to offer her a job to work for him . . . always working that boy is) He calls me & asks me to come & get him. He doesn’t know if he can drive the car home.

I would have to assume it always sounds worse than it is. His front bumper was pretty much ripped off, the front left panel/light was busted, she had a big ‘ole dent in her right hand side smack in between both doors (she was driving a big old Ford Explorer). She spun around a couple of times; the spun a bit to the left, all in all, everything and everyone was ok. She admitted that is was her fault, there were even people from Gig Harbor that stayed as witnesses. In the end everyone ended up driving their cars home (very carefully)

So, he calls the dealership Saturday morning, we put bungee cords on the bumper to secure it, & he ends up getting his new car. Yay. I guess. I’m serious; it is the same exact car without the warm windshield wipers. I asked him if they just really cleaned it up good & squirted new car smell in it. IT IS THE SAME CAR!!!!

Now, it’s Monday morning. I’m at work, it might be 8:15. He calls me.

Ring Ring
Me – Hello (I have caller ID at work, he’s on his cell phone)
C – I got in an accident.

My brain is saying really? Huh? Now that is a mean joke to play on me when I don’t even have a drip of coffee in me yet!

He’s serious. He was on I-90 & got rear ended. But, since he drives this big honkin truck of an automobile, he didn’t even know it. He thought he drove over a tire in the road. He said he saw the tire & that is what he thought he drove over. (It ended up being his spare tire from under the truck) He also listens to the radio so loud I’m sure he didn’t even hear anything. So, he keeps driving, he said he just had a weird feeling so he was pulling off the next exit to see if anything was wrong with the car & then some crazy lady is following him. Somehow he pulls into BCC, he talks to the lady & finds out that someone did ram him & they totaled their car. The cops didn’t give him any tickets. He’s actually going to go the to Dr now just to make sure everything is ok with him. He’s really shaken up. (rightfully so). I guess the other guy is OK. A gal I work with lives by me & saw the accident on her way into work .She said the car was totaled & the driver was out & about walking around. (So he’s OK also thank god)

It’s just crazy . . . He hasn’t had an accident for 20+ years and neither of these were his fault. Is it karma, or plain old bad luck? We’ll never know but I’m sure he’s got a different mindset right now about driving now. I only hope the next phone call I get from him goes like this:

Ring Ring
Me – Hello
C – What’s for dinner?

Vertigo

Vertigo (from the Latin vertō "a whirling or spinning movement") is a type of dizziness, where there is a feeling of motion when one is stationary. The symptoms are due to a dysfunction of the vestibular system in the inner ear. It is often associated with nausea and vomiting as well as difficulties standing or walking.

The sun is rising earlier. I feel like a big girl in the summer time because I wake up with the sun. Now, don’t confuse that with I wake up and I get out of bed. But when it’s a school day I’m pretty good about not having to use my alarm (unless I have to get out of bed before 5am).

It’s Thursday, April 8th, its Easter break over here, the office is pretty slow. I can sleep in. My boss is in Palm Springs, I really don’t need to be at work until 8am . . . doing the clock math in my head . . . Leave house no later than 7:15, I have clothes ready to wear, I can dry my hair ½ way & put it in a pony so I really only need 40 minutes, OK I should get out of bed around 6:30. Great. Now I’m awake after all that thinking but I’ll just stay in bed & play possum for another 30 minutes. I roll over. UGH! Thwomp Thwomp Thwomp. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think that sound was a huge evergreen tree branch banging on the side of the house. Ohhh . . . . I feel something soft warm, like soft baby peach fuzz on my arm oohhh warm too. More of the Thwomp Thowmp Thowmp. Ok, my senses are getting sharper now, I’m more awake, and it’s Smarty the dog. She knows I’m awake. Does she not know I have 30 more minutes to sleep? How can she not understand that as soon as I’m awake she can come up in the bed and cuddle? I appreciate her manners and always waiting for an invitation before coming up but come on; we go thru this e v e r y morning. Fine. I’m up. I might as well get going. If I get into the office early I can probably leave a bit earlier & it’s supposed to be beautiful outside today. Maybe I’ll do some much needed yard work.

I push myself up with my left arm, swing my legs around to the side of the bed, making sure I don’t crack the dog on her nose that is right there in front of me (I can hear her brain thinking Wake Up! Wake Up! Wake Up! Let’s play!! Is it one of those days when you stay home with me all day? I kind of look at her peeking thru one eye thinking “Sorry Smarty, I have to go to work today, it’s not one of those days”. I’m now sitting up on the side of the bed. Instantly I knew something was wrong. It was as if someone in front of me was holding a black eraser, held it on the right side of my face, and swiped it across my eyes.

For just a few seconds It was total darkness with a few ‘stars’ at the end, I put my hand on the dog’s head to hold myself up, I wobble a little. Boy, that was weird. I certainly didn’t think I got up that fast. I’m thirsty as I am every morning when I wake up. I swig the remains of last nights lemon water that is at my bedside. (Refreshing & room temperature, granted the bedroom is probably 63 degrees) OK everything’s all better. Let’s get going. I have to pee. I get up; I take a step, now I’m at the foot of the bed. Holy dizziness. Hmmm . .. my brain is processing now, it was as if it was actually talking to me; you can go to the master bath which is 5 steps, a bit of a turn & another turn (with nothing to hold onto) or you can go to your bathroom which is 10 steps and only 1 turn but there is a beautiful sturdy wall you can hold onto when your body decides to fail itself and take you down to the ground. I take the latter of the two deciding the wall looks very pleasing. I’m walking to the bathroom; my mind is saying “Walk in a straight line. Walk. Walk. Walk. It’s easy, just put one foot in front of the other” but my body is listening to the devil on my shoulder (aka Vertigo but I don’t know this just yet) & it is trying to walk me into the wall that is on my left hand side. Really? What the hell is going on? I make it to the bathroom. I pee. I’m dizzy (and it does not help that the dog is trying to squeeze herself between me sitting on the toilet & the wall in front of me)

I decide to text the office: (this is word for word & with spelling errors)
I think im sick. Just woke up & am real dizzy feel like throwing up. Its kind of weird. I don’t want to take a shower because I feel lopsided. im eating something then going to go to be for a little bit more. Hopefully ill be better in a couple hours (thank I go on about some work stuff)

I think to myself I ate like a pig yesterday. I had leftover Dirty Rice, and probably 5 of mom’s sugar cookies for dinner (not to self: must get back on healthy eating diet! Damn you mom for sending cookies!). I don’t fell like I need food but I decide that I should have some toast. Something just doesn’t feel right. Maybe I have the flu. Great. Just what I want to do, miss work. But, I guess if I have to miss a few days this is the right time to do it while everyone is out for holiday. I walk down the steps feeling odd, get into the kitchen, pop some raisin toast into the toaster and wait. I’m leaning against the counter, I can’t wait any longer, I think I need food. I don’t even want to wait & pour myself some water from the Brita that is in the fridge. I un-pop the toast, and walk into the family room & sit in the chair & nibble on the toast. But it’s not even toast. It’s more like warm bread because I didn’t leave it in the toaster long enough. Chris comes down stairs. He knows something is wrong because I NEVER eat breakfast in the morning. I usually just gulp some water & go. My office has a fairly nice cafeteria so I get a .25 cent coffee in the morning and an omelet or something. I’ve done this for years while working here so it’s not like I’m ‘off’ my routine. I start to cry. I don’t want Chris to see me crying so I try to buck it up.

C: What’s wrong?
A: I don’t feel good
C: Maybe you have a cold
A: Just what I need
C: Go back to bed & lay down for a bit
A: I think I will

As I go back upstairs and I get under the covers & lay down in a tight little ball. You have got to be kidding me!! I’m going to throw up??!! Come on! The last time I threw up because I was actually sick (and NOT hung-over) was, well, I honestly don’t remember. So I go to vomit. I have the dry heaves (gross) I was seriously thinking that I was not going to actually puke for a moment and then I just throw up the water. Chris is putting a cold compress on the back of my neck, he’s asking me what he can do, I’m kind of pretty much a mess & realize the toast is still in my belly. Now that is weird. (it’s also weird that the Dog has now jammed herself between me & the tub sticking her nose in the toilet – that is gross) I would have thought that I’d throw everything up. OK, so much for puking stories. Chris puts me in bed. Tells me I’m not going to work I have the flu. My brain is telling me I don’t have the flu because I’m not hot, I don’t have a fever. But, I think to myself that this has got to be the worst case of the flu I’ve ever had. I end up falling immediately asleep (which is soooo weird for me. I’m Ms. I love me a sleeping pill a nite) I wake up to the buzzing of my phone next to me. My boss ended up texting me back, telling me just to stay home. I told her I threw up and that I should be better tomorrow, She says maybe you are preg. I tell her no way.

Chris ends up going to work. On one hand I’m grateful he’s gone because the house will be quiet but on the other hand I’m terrified that I’m going to die in bed and Chris will walk into the hose with the dog laying and whimpering on top of me. I fall asleep & wake up about 3 hours later. It’s the same old shit. I’m not better. I am hungry tough. I decide to venture downstairs & see what there is to eat even though I really don’t want to throw up again. Nice. A lunchable lunch box thing. I guess it’s better than nothing & I don’t have to ‘prepare’ anything since I can’t really walk a straight line or even hold myself up. I do want something to drink. I go to the ‘drink fridge” in the garage. I’m actually a bit afraid to go out there because what happens if I fall over & konk my head on something & I’m in the garage & nobody finds me (that is just how my brain works sometimes). Mmmmm Diet Coke. I think to myself I better open a couple right now to get them warm & flat because first, that is just how I like to drink them and secondly, if I’m sick & throwing up, maybe it’ll help. I mean it’s not going to be anything like the Coke syrup mom use to give us as kids. Hell, that stuff was great. Do they even sell that anymore? But I figure since it has the word Coke in it I might be ok. (duh). I go back upstairs, turn the TV on. Boy it’s loud. I normally listen to it at 10. It was at 10. I ended up muting it. But, my eyeballs wouldn’t allow me to watch it either. I would have to assume at this point this is what a migraine is like. Maybe I have a migraine. I keep the TV on, but it’s muted, just to keep me company. I eat slowly; I roll over & pray to baby Jesus that I don’t puke. I fall asleep. I wake up about 2 hours later and am so excited I didn’t throw up. I’m still hungry.

I manage to go downstairs again, I get some food, call Chris (who honestly thinks I have the flu). Me, I think I have a brain tumor. You think I’m joking? I’m being serious. I honestly thought I was on the verge of death & I didn’t know what to do. I was scared. I very well might have even cried again. I called mom. She mentioned vertigo. She had a bout with it earlier in the year; grandma is on meds for it . . . BINGO! In a weird way this makes me feel so much better. At least I’m not going to die, I don’t have a brain tumor, and I don’t have MS (for some crazy reason that went through my head also). I call Chris back & tell him I need to see the Dr. tomorrow. Mr. anti-Dr says I don’t have to, I don’t have Vertigo, I just have the flu . . . blah blah blah. He’s so much like his mother. She never goes to the Dr. Now his dad, the hypochondriac is another story. I digress. I called the Dr. The gal say Dr. is booked, I tell her I’ll see anyone I think I have Vertigo. Voila! She got me in a noon the next day with my Dr. The benefits of being real sick I guess. Thank God! I think I have only 1 more day of hell. Well, not really.

Yup. She diagnosed me with Vertigo. Yay for knowing what is wrong with me. But I would have rather had the flu. I was in bed for 4 days straight. I probably should have stayed in bed one more day, but coming from the girl that loves to sleep & stay in bed. . . . . I couldn’t stand it anymore.

I feel for the people that get this all the time or have the ‘Vertigo’ disease. Maybe it’s just my Dr. (Ms. Proactive I’m a Dr. but I really don’t like to give you meds if I don’t have to) She gave me motion sickness pills to take which put me right to sleep. I am on day 6 of this hell. I’m a lot better. I’m on the computer pretty much all day long. That does not help. And just for giggles I’m also telling myself that being at work under these fluorescent lights is not good for me either. I still get dizzy/headrush when I bend down (like when I changed the trash bag last night. Woops!) I’m fine to drive. I just put my cruise control on & probably piss off someone behind me. I can watch TV, the sun (for the most part) is fine now also.

I just really hope that I’m 100% by this weekend so I can go in the garden & plant. Otherise my neighbors are going to think I’m drunk-gardening.

I'm getting old . . .In my ways that is.

I'm getting old . . .In my ways that is.

-I can sit in a room all by myself and not worry about being alone.
-I don't have to 'make' friends with people just to have lots of friends.
-I know that if someone does not agree with me that does not mean I'm wrong.
-I no longer need to stay out until the wee hours of the night to have fun.

Growing up is becoming more fun, it always seems to have new challenges but this is the time of my life where I 'get it'. There is a song, (for the life of me I can't remember who it's by, when I do I'll post it because it has GREAT lyrics) but it says as we get older, that is when we should do the things we can appreciate better with age. You start off in your early years by going to work & learning about 'real' life because that is where we all really learn about who we are and what we want to do/be and then when we are older, more patient, go to school . . . and then go and have fun & play & appreciate life. I would love one day to go back to school. BUT I hate school. I would do better now than back in the day because I get it now. But most importantly because I am more patient now. I like reading now, I like researching things, I like coming up with new ideas. I don't think I really knew that about me when I was in my 20's (I know I for sure didn’t appreciate things when I was in my 20’s). I do now. I also didn't know the importance of family, love, and good friends back when I was in my 20's. I do now. That is how I know I’m getting old.

Happy April Fools

Happy April Fools Day!

I'm starting this because:
  1. I've wanted to 'blog' forever now
  2. I'm really tired of all of my Facebook 'work' friends knowing everything about me. I know I  can delete them but when I told them I was going to a bunch of them went monkey crazy on me because they are vain & don't want their friend count to go down. In the mean time I've blocked them from my wall. That seems like it's done the trick for now. Ugh.
  3. Someone (my mom) recently told me that I wirte beautifully. So I am going to try to write more.
April Fools Day. . .

It can be so much fun if you know the right people. You have to expect the unexpected & not take it seriously today. You never know what’s going to happen. Years ago I pulled an April Fools joke on my parents and had them thinking I was pregnant. It was great. I mean, this was the best prank I have EVER pulled off. A girlfriend of mine called my parents house and left a message on the machine saying something to the effect of “Congratulations”. They (mom & dad) went bonkers. Dad said we could make my brothers room into a nursery (granted I didn’t know he was home from work that day ugh!), I told them I didn’t know who the daddy was . . . the conversation went on for a few minutes. Then I asked them what day it was.

Mom: Tuesday
Me: What’s the date?
Mom: The first
Me: What?
Mom: April, 1st
Me: What?
Mom: April 1st. . . .You bitch! You Bitch! (in a screaming, knowing I just got her kind of way)

It was classic. I should have taped it. To this day it still cracks me up when I think of it. I always re-live the story and tell someone on this day every year.

I got duped by my Logistics Manager this morning. He got me last year also. He’s good. Last year he had me actually crying thinking I got my favorite mail guy fired. This year he had me thinking (just for a second though) that my conference room wasn’t available for a big meeting I’m having later in the month.

Earlier today I worked with the IT guy to send an anonymous message to one of the guys on my team. Granted he knew immediately it came from me . . . what he doesn’t know is that when he logs into his computer tomorrow he’s going to see this as his background.

Uh huh – my first try wasn’t slick . . . but my second one will be.
