Do you ever wonder how it's all going to end? What your last word will be, what you'll be doing, who's going to be by your side? I'm not scared of dying. At least not now just as long as it's painless. There seems to be fair number of people in my family that have or had dementia. That scares me, loosing my mind. Not knowing my family, where I am, what year it is.... That scares the crap out of me.
I think I'm going to dye in a car accident. I've felt like this for about the past 8+ years or so. Maybe ever since we moved here to Seattle. On random car/bus trips I think to myself, "oohhh I'm gonna go in a crash" I don't know why I think this, I just do. (dont freak out mom). So if you know me and you are reading this and I die in a crash you can tell everyone at my funeral that I has ESP. :)

One of the things I miss most about Michigan since moving here about 11 years ago is thunderstorms. For as much time we spend with grey, sun lonesome, just enough sprinkling rain so it bothers you when wearing eyeglasses, we don't get thunderstorms. You can look out at the sky any give of the 200+ grey, rainy days and think 'woah, there is going to be a good storm today'. But 99.9% of the time there might not even be a drop of rain. For the past couple days the sky has had the, ominous 'thunderstorm' feel to only let you down at some point in the day without a raindrop and possibly a warm summer like ray of sun poking thru the clouds. Today was just another grey, warm, humid (and by humid I'm talking no more than 65% humidity) good city walking weather. I wasn't thinking much of thunderstorms at all. One of the weather forecasters said we might have thunderstorms before the evening is over. Other than having to deal with the dog, this could be exciting. Now I'm watching the local radar on my iPad to track the storm. Nothing exciting to view so I decide to close up & shut everything down for the evening. Here i am, laying in bed, windows open, crisp air blowing in, the soft pitter pat of the rain drops on the roof and the great smell of clean earth, the dirt, trees, air, everything all clean. I love this smell. You aren't going to get this rain smell in Michigan & I love it.

The Walrus & The Carpenter - Seattle, WA restaruant review
I went last night on the suggestion of the NYTimes article sent to me from a friend of mine that lives near NY.
The guy in the article with the curly-que mustache ( http://travel.nytimes.com/2011/06/12/travel/eating-in-and-around-seattle.html?src=me&ref=general ) was there shaking up drinks, our oyster schucker was a quiet, dread-loced dude. He told us that he shucked 40-50 dozen a day. He schucked with such ease…I told Chris that he needed to watch & get some pointers for our at home weekend shucking extravaganzas. Overall the service was great!
Super cute place!! I felt like I was in someone’s deluxe home kitchen. It reminded me of Sittka & Spruce. White cupboards, you can see the Chefs, Oyster Shucker, there were wire buckets filled with ice and oysters, great (I’m assuming locally handcrafted) chandelier. Small (45 people occupancy), Bright, loved to see the canned goods in the pantry.
It was ½ off oysters from 4-5. So we ordered 2 dozen.
I have to say these were some of the best (if not the best) oysters I’ve has here in Seattle. Served with a delicious mignonette (which is so simple but sometimes seemingly hard to get the right flavors; good vinegar, finely diced shallots & pepper ratio. The shallots in this one were diced so fine I almost thought they were put in a Cuisinart. Note to self when making at home, if you think your done, keep dicing….) and fresh grated horseradish (I think I need to dig up the remainder of my horseradish [I’ve been trying to kill it because it grows like a weed!] & plant it in it’s own pot so I can grate & eat also).
We had (favorite listed first):
Treasure Cove ($2.00 each) Salty ocean full nice medium size
Blue Pool ($2.50 each) mild salt smaller
Eagle Rock ($2.00 each) mild salt size was not consistent
Penn Cove Select ($2.00 each) big fatty full buttery very mild
Grilled Sardines with shallot, walnuts & parsley.
Nice & clean. A smidge too oily for me (not the fish.. there was too much olive oil on the plate). Tasted just like a sardine (duh!) but better…I love salty fish. Crispy on the outside, tender & flaky inside & no bones!!! We were soaking up the walnut/parsley concoction with our bread though. Yummy
Steak tartare. I remember back in the day my mom used to make this for us. I could never eat enough. I don’t remember the last time I saw it on a menu so I jumped at the chance to order it.
The farm fresh egg yolk was beautiful. I love the way farm fresh eggs look & taste. I think once you start to eat farm fresh eggs it’s hard to go back to store bought eggs.
My first bight was bland, then another bite I had a caper & I was excited. Flavor! But my next bight went back to no flavor. Ugh. For the most part there was something missing in it; maybe it wasn’t mixed up well. My taste buds were screaming for more flavor/seasoning. But… that did not deter me from eating it all up. Chris did not like it (granted he likes his meats cooked well done and I like mine rare).
I hate to say it but maybe I am more of a food snob than I’d like to admit. Somewhere I read that this was one of the best places to eat in Seattle. No, I don’t think that at all. Yelp’s rating is 4.5 stars (out of 5) I give this place a 3 ¾ - 4 star rating. Our total bill was $72, not including tip and this was happy hour drinks & oysters (oyster prices listed above are regular pricing). I’d go back if I had out of town visitors (go here first then to Ray’s Boathouse for outside patio dining) or go for happy hour oysters & drinks, and try a dessert.

It has been raining since last night. I was really wanting to finish cleaning up the garden so I could get planting. But.....the rain won & I only got the lawn mowed yesterday. Now I have been sitting in the house all day, doing much of nothing other than watching tv. Now as I type this I'm watching 'strange sex' on TLC and some guy is talking about his foreskin restoration project. I need to plan my weekend tv watching better. I really dont need to know about this nor do I care. It seems that the rain may have stopped raining. Maybe I should go pull some weeds before the sun goes down.

Just testing out my new iPad. Maybe I'll blog more often now. Even though I'm ready to throw the G.D. Thing out the window. The dear husband set it up for me and now I can't figure out my password for MobileMe. Love that he took care of for me but I wish everything was done correctly. Ive set up 3 for the bosses at work Im a pro, there is nothing to it but somehow he mucked it up. He wouldn't be a good assistant. Haha. Also, I'm not terribly impressed with the camera on this so far. I thought it was supposed to be a better camera. Hmmm mm, I'll have to look into it. Ok....adios, I am going to see if I can get a better score in bejeweled on the iPad compared to the iPhone. Wish me luck!!!!!

Happy New Year!
I'm down about 25 lbs now. It feels good to buy clothes that look good on me again. I think I'm going to have a real hard time loosing those last 20 lbs by April but as soon as the weather gets nicer & I'm outside more I'm sure it'll come right on off.
I'm just ready for spring to come along. I was kind of hoping for a snow day today. I got about 2 inches of snow last night, other areas aroundof us got 4+. But, it warmed up & it's all gone now. Everything is a rainy, wet mess outside. It's better that way though, this city really doesn't know how to handle snow. It's quite funny actually. The buses were jam packed yesterday, everyone trying to get home early and it hadn't even started to snow yet. Don't they know it has to start snowing before the chaos starts? I think my Almanac says we are to get snow one more time in March . . . that will be interesting. (I can only hope). But until then I must start to think about my garden & what I'll be growing this year since I didn't really plant anything last year. (I had Vertigo & was just not up to gardening) so let's start praying for a beautiful sunny summer with warm morning showers.
